Handmade Miniature Drawers

Last night I made this matchstick box miniature drawer unit. It took me about 2 1/2 hrs to make. I made it in response to @EllaMasters awesome 'Thrifty Thursday' D.I.Y section on her blog. To make one yourself follow her instructions here http://www.ellamasters.com/2011/08/thrifty-thursday-matchbox-miniature.html.
If your wondering where I got the matchstick boxes from.....they are from Wilkinsons and come in a set of 10 for 50p called 'Ship'. I bought two packs, wish I had bought more now.

You can probably tell I put the split pins in a repeated color sequence.....I just can't do random.
I stuck parts of a vintage map all down the sides, top, bottom and back. The top shows Morpeth in Northumberland....My family and I are hoping to move there at some point soon. Its a lovely market town with very good charity shops.

I thought I would add things to all the drawers.

From left to right:
- A badge I got from @Sumiart.
- A German Meerschaum Pipe with a stag on it.
- Miniature Robot coloring book which you can buy here 'Monster Gallery'.
- A wolf cut-out from one of @JessicaGowling's business cards she sent me a while ago.

- One of the feathers from the awesome giveaway I won from @JessicaGowling, which was based on birds.
- A Pinecone.
- Silver Gilt dessert service set.
- A Kingfisher.

- PKTR FRMS: mini accordion art book, which you can buy here Teambluebicycle.
- A Ship
- Two miniature shells.
- Vintage German Stamp.

- Another cut-out from the same business card by @JessicaGowling.
- Stamp with an owl on it from the giveaway I won from Jessica Gowling.
- Vintage theatre ticket I got from @Sumiart.
- Vintage necklace pendant with wooden heart and enameled moon.

- A Gilt Walnut Mirror.
- A Cream-bordered Green Pea Butterfly.
- I bought this pendant from Clare's Accessories many years ago....it shows Grumpy Bear.
- Tea pot, cups and saucers and a 'nice' biscuit.

If any of you guys make one of these could you send a link to me, as I would love see what you have done. Ella Masters would love to see them too.

  5. What a cute idea! I will have to go look at Ella's, too, and see the version that inspired you. The little specimens in each drawer with their labels are very sweet. I like the vintage map as well ~ lovely project!

  9. This is so great! I love the map covering and the split pins you use (I like your sort-of-random-but-not-really colour sequence!). And the care you've taken filling each draw, super ace stuff!
