Last night I made this matchstick box miniature drawer unit. It took me about 2 1/2 hrs to make. I made it in response to @EllaMasters awesome 'Thrifty Thursday' D.I.Y section on her blog. To make one yourself follow her instructions here http://www.ellamasters.com/2011/08/thrifty-thursday-matchbox-miniature.html.
If your wondering where I got the matchstick boxes from.....they are from Wilkinsons and come in a set of 10 for 50p called 'Ship'. I bought two packs, wish I had bought more now.
You can probably tell I put the split pins in a repeated color sequence.....I just can't do random.
I stuck parts of a vintage map all down the sides, top, bottom and back. The top shows Morpeth in Northumberland....My family and I are hoping to move there at some point soon. Its a lovely market town with very good charity shops.
I thought I would add things to all the drawers.
- A German Meerschaum Pipe with a stag on it.
- Miniature Robot coloring book which you can buy here 'Monster Gallery'.
- A wolf cut-out from one of @JessicaGowling's business cards she sent me a while ago.
