Mail Art from Jeannine Saylor

I have been really looking forward to my second mail art package from @Saylor_made. She sent me some fun goodies in all sorts of shapes and sizes :)

Both Jeannine and I love maps and she made me an awesome map envelope with part of Africa on it.

I got the sweetest letter with pretty printed fern leaves on the back.

These stickers are super fun. I love anything to do with space. I actually wanted to be an astronaut when I was little. The dog ones are so funny and very sparkly. I shall add these to my sticker collection. 

Next up is a cute sketch of a pink feather, 'ooooooh Snip' tag (Your catch phrases are brilliant Jeannine) and a lovely little doodle in a frame.

I got the sweetest miniature handmade envelope with stars on it, so darn cute.

Inside: 

A furry 'A', circle doodle, vintage stamps, shiny sequins and photo corners which I think look like cats.

Mail Art to Jaymie O'Callaghan

This week I sent the lovely @JaymieOC her first mail art package from me. I needed to send it this week as for the next two weeks she is going on a safari in Kenya. Good Times :)

I hand-made the envelope using an old atlas page. I like all the different images of the world on this one.

I've been trying to think of new ways to make my letters and thought I could use this vintage map and typewrite on the back. I didn't think it was going to work as the texture on the back is quite bumpy, but it worked out perfectly. I thought it would be nice to fold the map and tie it up with a lovely piece of tea-room pink coloured lace. I also left all the strands on the edge to make it even more oldie worldy.

I am really enjoying using my typewriter at the moment and have now started to take words from the dictionary and their definitions. I relate the words to the person I am writing them for. Since Jaymie is going on a Safari I thought these were fitting.

Some paper ephemera from an old antique and Wizard of OZ books.

2x vintage playing cards, a card with an old advertisement on it and details on the old map shop I went to in Edinburgh.

I made these stamp montages from an old map (which I used in my letter) and stamp book.

Jaymie asked if I could send something to do with my childhood, so I did. I used to have one of these when I was a child and they have always fascinated me. If you shine a light on it when it spins the colours are just mesmerising. 

I bought this book in Edinburgh and I wanted to think of another way to make a box diorama, so instead I did a book diorama. I am really enjoying making these at the moment. 

You could even call it an altered book.

 I asked Jaymie which of my drawings she liked so I could choose what theme to do, and she said she liked my polar bear drawing. So I drew a polar bear amongst icebergs and a whale coming up for air. I also made a decorative frame to go around it.
